HDPE Boats

I intend to build a full line of jon boats and jet boats built and fully welded from HDPE, and am in the early design phase.

I possess a Manufacturer Identification Code (MIC) from the Coast Guard and can stamp Hull ID Numbers (HIN) on the boats I build. All boats will be built to USCG recreational vessel standards for their size and classification.

I have built two “layout boats”—very small 1-man boats designed to be covered in grass and camouflage to use for waterfowl hunting. A third layout boat is on the way. The first “large” boat will be a 14-foot jon boat.

Currently my boats are drawn and cut by hand. I plan to have them router cut for speed and repeatability in the near future.

If you are interested in commissioning an HDPE boat, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll work something out.

7-1/2’ Layout Rowboat

This boat is built from 1/4” HDPE sheet, sports a vee-hull rowboat shape and has foam flotation. It rows incredibly well. It was finished in time for the 2026 waterfowl season and saw some modest use. At 7-1/2’ it can tuck into the tightest areas and presents only a small profile—it hides incredibly well.

10’ Layout Coffin

This boat is built from 1/4” HDPE sheet and uses foam and air chambers for flotation. I called it the ‘Coffin’ due to its shape. It sports a flat bottom, chines for straight tracking, and is quite stable for its size. Built to haul a little more gear or a dog in the front end.
