Trips

I offer both fishing and waterfowl trips. Rates are for booking the whole boat, with room for 2–3 guests depending on the trip. Come solo or bring a friend (or two). I run an 18’ Wooldridge Alaskan LT with a Mercury 115/80 jet, which lets me reach just about anywhere on the river or in the marsh.

I keep my groups small to give you a high‑end, relaxed, and personal experience. With only a couple anglers, you get more one‑on‑one time, more time fishing, less waiting while I tend gear, and plenty of room to work fish. It all adds up to better results. Waterfowl hunts also perform best with small groups — big parties flare birds, many spots can’t support more than 2–3 people, and the average take per person is always higher with fewer hunters.

I guide on weekdays only to ensure a premium experience. The Skagit gets busy on weekends during peak seasons, but weekday fishing and hunting see far less pressure and far more open access. That means a higher‑quality trip, more water and ground available to us, and better overall success. My goal is to give you a great day on the river or in the marsh, start to finish

Rates

• A $100 non‑refundable deposit is required to secure your date.

• The remaining balance is due on the day of your trip.

• You may reschedule to any available date up to 7 days before your trip. Inside 7 days, I may be able to reschedule on a conditional basis depending on openings.

• If I need to cancel due to weather, unsafe river conditions, or personal circumstances, we can move your trip to another open date or to the following season. If we can’t find a new date that works, your deposit will be refunded.

• All rates include fees and sales tax. What you see is what you pay — no surprises and nothing added at the end of your trip. Gratuity is never expected but always appreciated.

  • For 1 - 2 hunters. Mid-October thru January.

Variable start time - Early Afternoon. Legal shooting hours change throughout the year.

This is a premier waterfowl hunt on the marshes of the lower Skagit River! Get out of the fields and see what it’s like to hunt the wetlands. Great opportunities for mallards, pintail, wigeon, and teal in a hunt you have to experience. Please read my ‘Waterfowl’ page for full details on bird hunting.

  • For 1 - 2 anglers. September thru November.

Early morning - Early Afternoon. Exact start times will vary with time of year.

Trip times are about 6 hours, or until limits are reached.

My coho trip is a premium, high-end opportunity focusing on a great fishery with hard fighting fish. I limit the trip to two anglers to give you the greatest possible experience and the most one-on-one focus.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. Mid-June thru July.

    Morning Trip: 4:00am - 10:00am

The sockeye fishery is best early morning right at first light. We’ll fish the whole timeframe or until limits are reached.

The bite usually slows down mid-morning when it’s sunny. If we get cloud cover and the bite stays on longer.

Sleepy-head and don’t want to meet me at such an hour of the morning? Don’t worry, we can still get out, just let me know what time you wish to start and understand that we may miss the best bite.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. Mid-June thru July.

Any time after 6pm to dusk.

This is for the guy or gal who works the weekday and wants to get out after work. Start times after 6pm can vary depending on your work schedule and when you are able meet me at the launch.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. August thru September on odd years only.

    Morning Trip: 7:00am - 11:00am

    Afternoon Trip : 1:00pm - 5:00pm

This is a fun fishery that on a good day is constant action and easy limits. We’ll fish the four hours (usually PLENTY of time) or until limits are reached. We’ll either plunk with spin ‘n’ glos and sand shrimp or pitch spinners along the cuts. Humpy fishing is fun for everyone, especially kids or those new to salmon fishing.

The bite stays pretty consistent throughout the day, and I can run two trips (morning or afternoon).

Pink salmon are colloquially called “humpies” here due to the prominent hump the males develop when they reach the river for spawning. And, ironically, that is the best overall color to use for your tackle when fishing for pinks!

  • For 1 - 4 anglers. Late April thru May.

    Morning: 7am - 10am

    Midday: 11am - 2 pm

    Evening: 3pm - 6pm

Pick a slot and we can fish it. We’ll fish the whole time or until limits are reached. Trout trips are the only trip I offer on the weekend.‍ ‍This is a fun, easy, and introductory fishery that typically produces good stringers of fish. Great for kids or those just learning to fish.

I allow up to four anglers for this trip so whole families can go. If you have and extra little one, we can make it work.

for one to two anglers: I can swap out my Wooldridge for a smaller 12-foot boat. It is more nimble and “feels” appropriate for the fishery. I personally prefer this boat when trout fishing.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. June thru September.

Available weekdays only in the afternoon thru evening after any morning salmon trips.

A fun, laid-back, 3-hour outing on a local lake. We’ll target perch, bass, panfish, and possibly see some trout, depending on the lake and our own whims.

  • For 1 - 3 crabbers. July thru August.

    Thursday, Friday, and Monday only.

We’ll meet at the Cornet Bay launch at Deception Pass State Park between 7am and 8am. Crabbing may go into the afternoon, depending on conditions and how the crab are treating us. While letting the pots soak we can tour around and/or beach the boat and play on the beaches or go for a hike.

Bonus! If the low tides are right and it is open as per DOH guidelines, we may have a chance to dig some clams on the day you book.

A Discover Pass or a $10 daily use fee is required at the park. Fee can be paid at the terminal near the boat launch.
