Trips

I offer both fishing and waterfowl trips. Rates are for booking the whole boat with a limit of 2 or 3 guests, dependent on the trip. Come by yourself or bring a friend (or two). I operate from an 18’ Wooldridge Alaskan LT with a Mercury 115/80HP jet which allows me to go or get into just about anywhere on the river and marsh.

I keep my seat-count intentionally small. Fishing trips with only a couple of anglers see everyone getting more time fishing, less time waiting for me to tend to gear, and more room to work and land fish, which usually means better results. Waterfowl trips perform better with a limited number of people—large parties are easier for birds to see, some spots cannot support a large group, and average bird take is higher per person.

Ultimately, I am not here to ferry a boatload of people to maximize profit. I instead try to keep my trips relaxed, high-end and personal, the kind of experience I would expect you to want.

I guide on weekdays only. The Skagit gets very busy on the weekends during prime time. Weekday fishing/hunting sees less pressure and greater open access due to far fewer people being on the river. This translates to a much higher-quality trip and increases our fish/bird take. I want you to have the best, most relaxed trip possible.

Rates

  • $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the boat.

  • The balance is due on the day of the trip.

  • Rescheduling to another available date is permitted up to 14 days prior to your trip.

  • Cancellations due to weather, unsafe river conditions, or personal emergencies/conflicts on my end may be rescheduled for an open day up to the following year’s season. Your deposit will of course be returned if a new date cannot be agreed upon.

  • A Discover Pass or the Vehicle Access Pass that comes with your fishing license is required to park at many of the boat launches. Be sure to have yours.

  • Rates include all fees and sales tax. What you see is what you pay, no surprises.

  • For 1 - 2 hunters. Mid-October thru January.

    Variable start time - 1pm or 2pm.

Legal shooting hours change throughout the year and influence when we’ll met.

  • For 1 - 2 anglers. September thru November.

Early morning - Noon. Exact start times will vary with time of year.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. Mid-June thru July.

    Morning Trip: 4:00am - 9:00am

The sockeye fishery is best early morning right at first light. We’ll fish the whole timeframe or until limits are reached.

The bite slows down mid-morning when it’s sunny. If we get cloud cover and the bite stays on, we’ll stay out longer.

Sleepy-head and don’t want to meet me at the ass-crack of dawn? Don’t worry, we can still get out, just let me know what time you wish to start and understand that we may miss the best bite.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. Mid-June thru July.

Any time after 6pm to dusk.

This is for the guy or gal who works the weekday and wants to get out after work. Start times after 6pm can vary depending on your work schedule and when you are able meet me at the launch.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. August thru September on odd years only.

    Morning Trip: 7:00am - 11:00am

    Afternoon Trip : 1:00pm - 5:00pm

This is a great fishery that on a good day is constant action and easy limits. We’ll fish the four hours or until limits are reached. We’ll either plunk with spin ‘n’ glos and sand shrimp or pitch spinners along the cuts. Humpy is fun for everyone, especially kids or those new to salmon fishing.

Pink salmon are colloquially called “humpies” here due to the prominent hump the males develop when they reach the river for spawning. And, ironically, that is the best overall color to use for your tackle when fishing for pinks!

Available on odd years only. Season usually opens in early August and runs through September.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. Late April thru May.

    Morning: 7am - 10am

    Midday: 11am - 2 pm

    Evening: 3pm - 6pm

Pick a slot and we can fish it. We’ll fish the whole time or until limits are reached. Trout trips are the only trip I offer on the weekend.

  • For 1 - 3 anglers. June thru August.

Availability every weekday from early morning to 5:00pm.

A fun, laid-back, 3-hour trip on a local lake. We’ll target perch, bass, panfish, and trout, depending on the lake and our own whims.

This is more of a secondary trip to fill in gaps I have in m schedule. Bookings for salmon, when open, take precedence over Lake Fish trips during this timeframe.

  • For 1 - 3 crabbers. July thru August.

    Thursday, Friday, and Monday only.

We’ll meet at the Cornet Bay launch at Deception Pass State Park between 7am and 8am. Crabbing may go into the afternoon, depending on conditions and number of sets of the puts we do. While waiting we can tour around and/or beach the boat and play on the beaches in the vicinity.

Bonus! If the low tides are right and it is open as per DOH guidelines, we may have a chance to dig clams on the day you book.

A Discover Pass or a $10 daily use fee is required at the park. Fee can be paid at the terminal near the boat launch.
