Duck Hunting Skagit Valley
I. LOVE. DUCK. HUNTING.
During the fall and winter, when I'm not fishing, you'll usually find me pursuing waterfowl throughout the wetlands of the Skagit River below Fir Island and the surrounding areas. I duck hunt 30-40 days per year. While I am not currently offering guided waterfowl hunts, duck hunting remains a significant part of my outdoor lifestyle.
We see plenty of mallards, pintail, wigeon, and teal, along with the occasional wood duck, spoonbill, and gadwall out in the Skagit Marsh. We usually don’t hunt out of the boat, but go deeper into the marsh by foot. The area is an interesting mix of marsh topography, river channels, and tides, and I may have involuntarily gone swimming while duck hunting on more than one occasion…
I'm an active member of the Washington Waterfowl Association, where I participate in hunter mentorship programs, maintain wood duck nesting boxes, and volunteer with conservation efforts that benefit waterfowl habitat and future hunters. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for WWA. If you're looking for a great group of local hunters and good friends, I highly recommend joining WWA.
I spend much of my hunting season afield with family and friends, but I do enjoy introducing new hunters to the sport through mentorship opportunities. I am particularly fond of introducing youth hunters to the sport.
I love answering questions about waterfowl hunting. If you have any, please ask me!
